When it comes to building a versatile & functional work capsule wardrobe, Bella has it down pat.
Bella has been a loyal supporter of Primi since the beginning of the brands journey and we were thrilled to sit down with her in this style Q&A.
1: Tell us a little about yourself …
Hi! I'm Bella, a proud Pisces and the doting parent of my senior pup, Lucy. As a full-time content and marketing manager for a hair care distributor, I'm living the dream of working in the beauty industry. But here's a not so little secret: beneath the professional facade, I'm a die-hard fashion lover that loves creating content. I find joy in curating captivating content on Instagram and collaborating with brands, not to mention having a relaxed and creative outlet on TikTok. Fashion and beauty have always been a passion of mine, and these platforms allow me to blend my interests with my professional expertise. I've always been a creative soul who adores visual storytelling, and these outlets allow me to follow my passion and apply the knowledge to my professional work.
Beyond my career and side gig, I'm a self-proclaimed foodie who loves exploring new restaurants. Believe it or not, I'm also a CrossFit enthusiast. It might have been a random discovery, but now I'm fully committed and even have my first competition on the horizon! As a true water sign, my happy place is by the beach, especially when I'm there with my husband. It's our favourite way to recharge and connect.
2: We adore your Tiktok work fit checks. What do you look for when shopping for reliable work staples?
Thank you! I have to admit, doing my TikTok fit checks during my daily coffee break at the office is a must!
When I'm on the hunt for dependable work wardrobe staples, there are a few key criteria they need to meet: top-notch quality, versatility, and the perfect fit. I invest time in researching brands and scrutinising the composition of clothing items. Sometimes, I'll even refer back to my beloved wardrobe pieces to find similar materials.
Getting the sizing right is crucial too. We've all fallen into the trap of buying something solely for its design, only to have it hoard in the closet because it doesn't fit quite right. I've learned to overlook the number on the tag and instead focus on what visually suits my body.
And here's a golden rule: always follow the care instructions to keep your staples looking their best (and reliable!)
3: Who, what or where has influenced your personal style?
Honestly, my personal style has been shaped by numerous factors, not to mention my own personal growth journey. It took me a while to break out of my fashion comfort zone and feel confident in putting together outfits. But without a doubt, social media has been a treasure trove of inspiration for me. I draw inspiration from various platforms, including Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
One standout figure in the fashion world who has greatly influenced me is Allison Bornstein, a fashion stylist whose expert tips and guidance helped me lay the foundations of my personal style. I actually stumbled upon her through my girl crush, Violette! Additionally, I have a lineup of digital fashion icons that I turn to for inspiration:
- My Aussie favourites: @jessalizzi @jilliansun @katherinelond @madisonwoolley
- Effortlessly chic Euro ladies: @iamcharlotteolivia @sophiepirrung @aidabadji_/
- And across the pond in the US: @rutaenroute, @aimeesong, @brookesansone4
Lastly, I have to give credit to my younger sister. She not only understands my fashion preferences but also knows my body shape well, making her an incredible sounding board for my fashion choices!
4: What 5 pieces of clothes are non negotiables in your capsule wardrobe?
I can't resist having these five essentials in at least 2-3 different colours (sorry if that’s cheating haha!)
- Oversized boxy blazer
- Rigid straight-leg jeans
- Fitted cotton tanks
- Baggy crew neck knit sweaters
- Tailored trousers or pants
5: Do you have any advice for someone wanting to start in marketing & content creation?
Marketing is such a broad profession, so my biggest advice to diversify your role. At the outset of your career, don't pigeonhole yourself. Embrace variety and explore different facets of marketing. Try on different hats, be open to new experiences, and soak in as much knowledge as you can. It's like building your very own marketing toolkit. Consider working in companies of various sizes because the perspective you gain from diverse environments can be a game-changer. Remember, every role is a university in itself, and the people you meet along the way are some of your best professors!
To kick off your content creation journey, take a moment to find what truly inspires you. It could be a person, a brand, a particular type of content, or even the aesthetics of a well-curated Pinterest board. Knowing what lights your creative fire is the first step in crafting content that resonates with you and your audience.
Then, just start! Use your phone, a tripod, and good lighting. Trust me; it makes a world of difference. Dive into creating content headfirst, and remember, the more you practice, the sharper your content creation skills become. It's a journey of growth and discovery, so don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them.
